OmniActive delivers inaugural speech at international conference
OmniActive’s Juturu Chosen to present 'Macular Carotenoids Current Perspectives: Closing the Generation Gap' and deliver inaugural speech at OMICS 2015
Vijaya Juturu, PhD, FACN, Senior Manager of Global Scientific and Clinical Affairs, OmniActive Health Technologies, delivered the inaugural speech at the 5th International Conference on Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology (4-6 August 2015 in Valencia, Spain).
Dr Juturu was also an invited speaker, presenting a well-received session, 'Macular Carotenoids Current Perspectives: Closing the Generation Gap,' which supported the conference’s theme: scientific eye for visual intelligence.
Dr Juturu shared new insights into the importance of the macular carotenoids, lutein and zeaxanthin isomers (RR-zeaxanthin and RS (meso)-zeaxanthin), from infancy to adulthood, including visual performance as well as eye and brain health and co-ordination. Moreover, Juturu discussed the effects of obesity on AMD and vision health.
'Recent studies have further highlighted the tremendous potential and unique, individual roles that each of the macular carotenoids — lutein, RR-zeaxanthin and RS-zeaxanthin — play in maintaining healthy vision and brain health during a lifetime,' stated Dr Juturu. 'To be asked to present on this topic is not only a testament to OmniActive’s robust scientific programme, but also the relevance and validity of science surrounding the macular carotenoids.'
