Gelita appoints Dr Sven Abend to the executive board of Gelita effective from 1 November 2020. Dr Abend will succeed Dr Franz Josef Konert as of 1 January 2021, who is retiring at his own request at the end of the year.
Dr Abend's most recent position was COO of the Lonza Group, where he was responsible for the Specialty Ingredients division, and was also a member of the executive board.
The supervisory board furthermore appointed Jan Christoph Teetz as CFO of Gelita from 1 October 2020. Prior to this, Mr Teetz was CFO at Tesa, a company of the Beiersdorf Group, for more than 10 years.
Together with the current COO, Mr Michael Van Elsacker, the executive board aims to shape the company's continued expansion. The supervisory board is of the opinion that these appointments to the executive board will ensure the company's successful development.
The supervisory board would like to take this opportunity to sincerely express its thanks to the soon to be retiring CEO, Dr Konert, who has led and developed the company over the past 11 years. He also played a major role in shaping the company's 2030 strategy.
