Hormel Foods is a multinational manufacturer and marketer of consumer-branded food and meat products, many of which are among the best known and trusted in the food industry

EnWave Corporation is pleased to confirm that the company has shipped a 100kW nutraREV machine to a production facility in the United States of America for Hormel Foods Corporation to use for the production of new snack items.

Hormel Foods has been working with EnWave for more than 3 years to develop protein snack products to meet the demands of on-the-go consumers. Hormel Foods is EnWave's first commercial partner to use Radiant Energy Vacuum (REVT) dehydration technology for the production of meat snack products.

EnWave is introducing REVT as a new dehydration standard in the food and biological material sectors: faster and cheaper than freeze drying, with better end-product quality than air drying or spray drying.

EnWave currently has three commercial REVT platforms: nutraREV is used in the food industry to dry food products quickly and at low-cost, while maintaining high levels of nutrition, taste, texture and colour; powderREVis used for the bulk dehydration of food cultures, probiotics and fine biochemicals such as enzymes below the freezing point; and quantaREV is used for continuous, high-volume low-temperature drying.

Two additional platforms, bioREV and freezeREV, are being developed as new methods to stabilise and dehydrate biopharmaceuticals such as vaccines and antibodies. More information about EnWave is available at www.enwave.net.
