Algatech names new CEO

Doron Safrai will replace Hagai Stadler as head of the microalgae-derived ingredients company

Algatech has appointed Doron Safrai as its new CEO. Mr Safrai will replace Mr Hagai Stadler who has been leading the company for the last few years of its development. Safrai brings considerable experience to the microalgae-derived ingredients company.

Safrai joins Algatech with a 20-year background in leading general manager, sales, marketing and business development roles with diverse B2B and B2C companies including Tambour, Keter and SodaStream. In his most recent position, Mr Safrai was the Executive Vice President of Global Marketing and Sales for the Galam Group, a leading natural ingredients company.

The appointment comes at an important moment in the company’s development. In May 2019, Algatech joined the Solabia Group, a global leader in biotechnology, fine chemicals and plant extraction technologies, as its nutrition platform for existing products. It is now looking forward to the launch of a new product related to the use of β-1,3-glucan derived from microalgae Euglena gracilis. This will be Algatech’s third commercial product alongside FucoVital and AstaPure Astaxanthin.

Solabia’s backing and global footprint, coupled with the fresh vision of a new CEO, will support the acceleration of Algatech’s growth trajectory as it expands its global microalgae product offering and cements its credentials as a company at the cutting-edge of developments in the sector.

Safrai’s significant experience will support Algatech as it works to fulfil its mission to unlock and share the immense power of microalgae by continuing to explore its wide-ranging applications and crucially bringing its algae-derived products to the international market.

Geoffroy Madelin, General Manager of Solabia Group, said: “We thank Mr Hagai Stadler for his significant contribution to Algatech over the past years. His vision and leadership have been instrumental in growing the company into an industry pioneer with market leading capabilities. We now look forward to working closely with Mr Safrai in this new phase of the company’s development as part of the Solabia Group. With Mr Safrai’s oversight and direction, Algatech is well positioned to accelerate its growth by building on Solabia’s and Algatech’s existing specialist knowledge and infrastructure and capitalising on a still largely untapped market”.

Mr Safrai will join other members of the Algatech team at October’s Supply Side West summit in Las Vegas. Those interested in connecting at the summit should contact Mr Or Gottlib, VP Marketing of Algatech to arrange a meeting.
